How often should I get an eye exam?
This depends on your age and overall health condition. For children 19 years of age and under, seniors, and those with eye conditions, we recommend annual checkups. Healthy adults should get checked every 2 years.
Our optometrists will recommend an appropriate follow up appointment based on your individual circumstance.
How do you examine the internals of my eye?
In order to have a thorough examination of the inside of the eye, the retina, we recommend taking an image using the Optomap. We may also put drops in the eyes to dilate your pupils to give the doctor a better view of the retina. (Sunglasses are advisable, as dilation of pupils will cause the eyes to be more light sensitive.)
Do you sell glasses, sunglasses, or contact lenses?
Yes, Opsis Eye Care is a full scope optometric practice and we carry a great selection of different styles of eye wear (glasses and sunglasses) for all ages as well as contact lenses. Come in to check out our selection and ask about our latest promotions.
What is the process of ordering glasses?
We will help you select a frame that is both functional and fashionable and recommend the most appropriate lenses and coatings. We will then take precise measurements to provide the best fit of your custom lenses. We then send the frame to the lab to have your custom lenses made and inserted (which may take 1-2 weeks). When your eyeglasses are ready for pick up, we will adjust them to fit comfortably on your face to provide the clearest vision.
Do you have solutions to help me see better without glasses or contacts?
Yes, our optometrists are trained and provide solutions to help you see clearly without wearing glasses or contacts. One option is orthokeratology (Ortho-K). Come in to speak with your optometrist today and they can explain the best option given your individual circumstance.
My child's prescription keeps changing, what can I do?
There are different ways to help control the progression of nearsightedness in kids: Ortho-k, MiSight, and Atropine Therapy. Our doctors can help recommend what is the most appropriate method for your child. Please contact us for more information/details.
Can you help me with laser (LASIK) surgery?
Our optometrists are trained in providing laser (LASIK) consultations and co-management. Through a comprehensive eye exam we can determine if you’re a good candidate for laser (LASIK) surgery and help advise which type of surgery is most appropriate. We will then refer you to one of our partnered laser (LASIK) centers. You can trust Opsis Eye Care to be there throughout your laser (LASIK) eye surgery journey.
Do you accept insurance and direct billing?
Opsis Eye Care is a provider for most insurance plans available in Canada, and Direct Billing is now available for eye exams, eye glasses, and contact lenses.
