Comprehensive Eye Exam
With eyes being so important in nearly everything you do, it makes sense to invest a little time to make sure they are functioning properly now and the rest of your life. Little problems need to be treated before they become big permanent eye problems that can’t be treated. The only way to to catch little eye problems is with comprehensive routine eye exams.
Here at Opsis Eye Care, our eye exams include a careful and thorough assessment of the following:
- Case history
- Visual acuity (current vision)
- Binocular vision (visual coordination)
- Prescription check for eye glasses
- Tonometry (eye pressure)
- External and internal eye health (which may include dilation of the pupils)
- Sunglasses are advisable, as dilation of pupils will cause the eyes to be more light sensitive
Through a comprehensive eye exam, your Markham Optometrist Dr. Jessica Nhan will be able to detect eye problems, such as dry eyes, eyestrain, and infections, as well as screen for eye diseases such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, and cataracts. She will also be able to detect and manage eye problems associated with systemic diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and arthritis.
Our typical eye exam ranges from 30-45 minutes. For complete eye health care, please bring your health card (as OHIP covers annual eye exams for patients diagnosed with diabetes or have major eye problems), the current eye glasses you wear, your contact lenses information and a list of your medications. If you are under a health plan that has vision coverage, please bring your insurance card and ask us about electronic submission.
