Five Tips To Prevent Foggy Glasses From Your Mask

The Covid situation has shown what a struggle it is to wear spectacles with a mask. Yet people who cannot manage without glasses have to go through this struggle each day. Optometrists and eye doctors worldwide face this issue with their clients. They counsel patients on glasses and contact lens care apart from performing vision tests and prescribing medication for eye conditions. They also treat other eye disorders and ensure that patients take good care of their eyes.

The eyes are one of the most delicate organs in the human body, and they must be treated with care. One should immediately seek the assistance of a professional in case of any discomfort.

To help you take advantage of all the eye care benefits, we’ve listed five tips to prevent foggy glasses from your mask.

Tip #1: Make sure your mask is fitted properly
Focus on finding a mask that fits you properly and can be shaped around your nose and cheeks to prevent your breath from moving upwards. This way, you can remain protected from the virus and avoid fog from settling on your glasses.

Tip #2: Use a body tape
If you cannot secure your mask well on your nose and cheeks, you can try taping the top of the mask to provide a snug fit. Use appropriate tape for the skin as it is easy to remove and does not cause irritation.

Tip #3: Seal the top of the mask using a glass frame
If you cannot find the body tape, you can try to push your mask higher on your nose and use the bottom of your frames to push on the top of the mask. This will seal the top of the mask and will not allow your breath to move to the glasses.

Tip #4: Try anti-fog wipes and/or sprays
A thin layer of anti-fog can be applied to the lenses using a variety of wipes and sprays that are now available on the market. They need to be reapplied every 24-48 hours. It is essential to read the instructions carefully to prevent scratches on the coatings/lenses.

Tip #5: Get customized anti-fog lenses made for your frames
You can consider getting your lenses customized to anti-fog. These lenses are recommended if you wear masks for work regularly. However, due to the anti-fog layer’s inability to prevent reflections they might not be able to block the glare. You can consider getting contact lenses or laser correction to avoid wearing glasses altogether.
