In a world where we are constantly working and socializing with smartphones and small–screen devices, it’s essential to have regular eye exams to check for dry eyes, eyestrain, and infections. However, it can be easy to put off visiting an optician for one reason or another, which results in our eyesight becoming impaired over a period.

Therefore, at Opsis Eye Care, we encourage individuals to have annual eye examinations to diagnose and treat eye conditions in time. We also take pride in finding solutions by offering the latest hi-tech optometry procedures and services. Our services include eye exams, contact lens fitting, Optomap, laser (LASIK) eye surgery consultation, and Ortho-k (Orthokeratology). Read on to learn more about our services.

Our Services:

1. Comprehensive Eye Examinations
Our eye examinations evaluate Visual acuity (current vision), Binocular vision (visual coordination), Tonometry (Eye Pressure), and prescription checks. We can also identify early symptoms of glaucoma, macular degeneration, and cataracts. In addition, our team can detect systemic diseases such as diabetes, arthritis, and high blood pressure.

2. Contact lens fitting
We evaluate contact lenses for visual performance, which helps us provide top recommendations. We also show patients how to correctly fit, remove and keep their contact lenses clean. We call clients back during the adaptation period to check how they are getting on.

3. Optomap
An Optomap is a scan that provides a detailed view of the retina to detect diseases that may not show any visual symptoms. An autofluorescence image can pick up subtle structural changes, which can be compared by our eye doctors each year to look for minute changes.

4. Laser (LASIK) Eye Surgery Consultation
After conducting an eye exam, we can start to evaluate if refractive surgery is appropriate and which type of treatment is most suitable. We assess a patient’s age, prescription, and Presbyopia. We also consider the thickness of their cornea or if they suffer from a disease that can make the laser procedure risky. Accordingly, they will get sent to a laser center for further analysis.

5. Orthokeratology
Ortho-K (Orthokeratology) is a process that uses gas permeable hard contact lenses to correct vision while the patient is asleep. It works by temporarily reshaping the cornea and helps to treat Myopia in children. During the day, patients don’t have to wear any glasses or contact lenses.

Critical aspects of our process:

1. Efficient eye exam
Our typical eye exam ranges from thirty to forty-five minutes. For complete eye health care, please bring your health card (OHIP covers annual eye exams for patients diagnosed with diabetes or that have significant eye problems).

2. Provide information
Bring your current eyeglasses, contact lens information, and a list of your medications. It will help us effectively maintain a case history and find solutions for your eye care needs.

3. Insurance
If you are under a health plan with vision coverage, please bring your insurance card and ask us about insurance direct billing.
